"Beauty At War" actress Sheren Tang may have caused a scandal with her criticism against TVB's working conditions, but the actress recently revealed that she is actually more laidback now in her 40s, unlike her younger self once upon a time.
According to Popular Asians, the actress recently sat down for an interview and shared how she pressured herself to give her all in her performance.
"As the lead in both "War And Beauty" and "Beauty At War", I really felt the pressure to live up to everyone's expectations. In the first instalment, we would go on filming until 3 or 4am. This time, it was even worse. Filming lasted till 5 to 6am," the actress said.
She continued, "But even that didn't mean it was time to rest. We had to start memorizing the rough drafts of scripts. After working like that for three to four months, I realised I started to experience anxiety, and it greatly affected my performance."
The actress also shared that she once cried to a point of collapsing due to the stress of having to memorize 50 pages of script, and expressed, "In the drama, Yu Fei is very tough, but Sheren Tang is weak. So for the first instalment, I would only give myself 50 percent."
However, the actress revealed that she has learned to take things in stride.
"In the past, I was serious about everything and strived for 100 percent. But I realised that aiming for perfection is too tedious, which is why I need to seriously handle this and drop the idea."
