The current Nick Cheung seems a little unfamiliar, but he certainly a familiar face, just with a new built body figure and a boxer look. When shooting the film Night Fall, Nick demanded himself to lose the weight and now he's prepping again for director Dante Lam's film Fierce Battle MMA (激戰MMA), this time he's gaining weight and doing physical training. Nick worked out a new look, he now has a wrestler's figure and can challenge Andy On. He said: "At first I didn't have any oil, salt, sugar or anything starchy in my diet. Then I started eating 20-30 egg whites to get more protein in my body. When it was almost time to start shooting, I spent 3 days just eating white rice and relied on the starch to help expand my muscles. During the final stages, I had to stay dry. Each time I drank water, I only took a sip in hope to reduce the moisture and make my streaks stand out more."
In terms of determination, Nick had no problem enduring, but his body gave him an honest reaction, apparently his body wanted him to stop early. "Eating too many egg whites caused me to get an inch thick of bubbles in my urine. I have to flush several times to get it all down. My body could get so dry, I wouldn't have to use the restroom for a whole day and occasionally I just force myself to go, but only get a few drops. I had to drink coffee. Also frequently working out for 4-5 hours, I would suddenly feel withered. It's terrifying, but there's no reason why I shouldn't go on." Possessing a muscular body, Nick expressed it will only appear in the film and in this magazine (JET). "At the time, as soon as I finished the scene, I put my clothes back on right away. All I had on my mind was, 'I have to go to the gym now, wonder how long I'll be there for?'"
In the film, Nick is constantly shooting boxing practice scenes and its the first time in his 20 years of acting that he felt so scared. "I have never been scared when the director calls action. Because not long after we started shooting, I injured my pinky finger on the first scene. It was so painful, and the following scenes were all me punching the boxing bags, fighting someone or getting beaten. Then after work, I would go back to the gym and do the same thing! My reaction is consider normal right!" If a famous director wanted you to show off this perfect figure, would you want to do it again? "Not even if Jesus was the director! If have to gain weight, I would think about it. I'm guessing gaining weight would be happier."
