Life has not been so glamorous anymore for actor Joel Chan ever since his breakup with heiress girlfriend of two years, Florinda Chan.

Jayne Stars website reported that Joel, who has been staying out of sight ever since returning from London after their breakup, has been reported to have return to his tiny 400 square footage flat in Richland Gardens with his mother, a far cry from his former 10-room mansion home with Florinda.

The paparazzi who have been poaching around his residence, finally caught Joel leaving his house on 11 May to catch up and have a meal with his good friend, Derek Kok, who paid the bills for him.

It was also rumoured that with the actor's jobless state, his mother has now become the breadwinner, taking care of the family and her heartbroken son.

A source claimed, "Joel was afraid that people would recognise him in broad daylight and refused to leave home until nightfall. His flat faces the entrance of the building, so he will know if there are reporters around. He will only leave the house when he is sure that the coast is clear."

When asked regarding Joel's state, Derek Kok simply replied, "I haven't seen Joel in a while, so I had dinner with him that night. I really don't know anything else. It is their problem, so they should handle it."

Meanwhile, ex-girlfriend Florinda seemed unfazed with the breakup, returning to Hong Kong from her London vacation in high spirits, even smiling to reporters who approached her. However, the casino heiress refused to respond to questions regarding Joel.
