Many others are criticising the Hong Kong government's decision about granting of free-to-air TV licenses to i-Cable and PCCW but not HKTV, save for Hong Kong director Wong Jing, who is one of the few who agreed with the decision.
As reported on Mingpao website, the "Young And Dangerous: Reloaded" director recently expressed his support towards the government's resolution to reject HKTV's request, saying, "It's clear that HKTV was the weakest contender among the three and has the least chance of survival in the competitive world of television."
Wong Jing believed that the government made the right call, adding that HKTV's success is not guaranteed even if they were given the free TV license.
When asked his reason for saying that, Wong replied, "HKTV has limited financial resources and they also lacked of diverse programming. I don't believe there is any political agenda behind the rejection."
The director, who is known for producing movies such as "Sixty Million Dollar Man" and the "Sex And Zen" series, also criticised the lack of a news department in HKTV, which to him, shows "lack of social responsibility".
