Hong Kong government's refusal to grant the free-to-air TV license to HKTV has caused several of its actors to begin worrying about their careers, reported Prozz website.
Former TVB actor Deno Cheung, who left the company after 18 years to create new career for himself with HKTV, has recently expressed his disappointment with how things are, and added that he may change his profession instead.
The "Men With No Shadows" actor who once thought about going into constructions, said, "At first I thought that there was a lot of hope in being an actor, but now I feel suffocated. I still have an 8-month contract with HKTV, and I don't want to think about the prospects."
His sentiments are shared by another former TVB-turned-HKTV actor Al Wai, who said that he will turn to other jobs if push comes to shove.
However, the actor is sympathetic towards HKTV's CEO Ricky Wong, who reportedly apologised to him for the unexpected turn of events. He said, "I was prepared to fight the war when I joined HKTV. It's common to have casualties in war."
Meanwhile, actor Eddie Li was thankful to Ricky Wong, as the short time he spent in HKTV had been great.
He stated, "It was difficult at my old company (TVB). I had to compete with thousands of people and eat 'tree bark' to live. But HKTV was a little better. I get to eat 'congee'. I want to thank Mr. Wong for keeping me full. Respect."
