Following news that TVB recently partnered up with Stars Shine International's Herman Ho to establish their own music label called Star Dream, it was reported that the company's music producer Tang Chi Wai has recently resigned from the company.
As reported on Sina website, on 25 October, Tang made the announcement on Weibo, stating that he and his four assistants have resigned, and wrote, "2001 to 2013. In order to pursue my music dream and make music that I enjoy, I am officially resigning from the place I have worked at for 12 years. Thank you TVB for all the guidance, and thank you producers, artistes and colleagues."
He continued, "From "Breathe" to "Sequel", the last 12 years have brought a lot of memories for me. I hope all these memories touched you as well, and that one day I will hear people say "I grew up listening to Uncle Chi Wai's songs!"."
To the media on the same day, Tang stated that it was a difficult decision and that TVB had tried to convince him to stay.
"I have been thinking about it for quite a while, but now that there is someone who can take care of the work, I can finally leave with no regrets. I want to go out and see the world," Tang said.
He also dismissed the notion that he forced his four assistants to resign, saying that they decided to do the same on their own free will when they heard that he wanted to leave.
