Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang has dismissed rumours of a conflict with director Derek Yee over a broadcasting licence issue.
Previously, it was rumoured that the former president of the Performing Artistes Guild (PAG) was at odds with the "Shinjuku Incident" director, who is also the president of the Film Directors Guild, in regards to the unexpected removal of HKTV from the TV race as well as the 20 October rally.
It was said that Derek and the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers' Chairman, Ng See Yuen have proceeded with the release of press statement that revealed the support of the Federation towards the 20 October rally against the decision without agreeing to Eric Tsang's call for a meeting first, resulting in PAG's absence at the said protest.
The incident brought about a lot of criticism over PAG and Eric as its president, resulting in the actor's resignation from the post and his membership from the Directors Guild, sparking rumours of a fall out between him and Derek.
However, according to Sina website, while speaking to the media at an award event on 31 October, Eric denied that he was at odds with the director, saying, "We have been brothers for years. I didn't handle the matter well, so I resigned from the Directors Guild and the Performing Artist Guild."
When asked if he felt that Derek was biased in favour of Ricky Wong and HKTV, Eric said, "I have no comment."
