Despite the strong ratings for its premiere episode and positive reviews for the following episodes, subsequent ratings for "Triumph In The Skies II" has dropped due to some of its more adult content.
According to Mingpao, the series peaked at 34 points, but maintained a 30-point average in its second week as the controversial scenes were not favourably received by viewers.
Sources revealed that although TVB usually uses sexy scenes to increase their ratings, the same cannot be implemented in "Triumph In The Skies II", as viewers were more drawn to its innocent romance rather than steamy scenes.
According to ratings data, the show's most watched scene last week involved Sam (Francis Ng) meeting Summer (Myolie Wu) at the airport for the first time, with over 2.18 million viewers tuning in to witness their first meeting.
However, the same cannot be said to the series' more controversial elements. The bed scenes that were created to show the playboy side of Jayden (played by Julian Cheung) not only turned many viewers away, but also received lots of complaints from viewers that they were too risqué for television.
