Andy Lau Tak Wa as the film FIRESTORM (FUNG BO)'s boss, producer and actor attended an event in Beijing. The film will be released for the holidays in the Mainland and Hong Kong in December as the first Chinese 3D police film.
Lau Tak Wa's investments GALLANTS (DA LUI TOI) and A SIMPLE LIFE (TOH JEH) both won the Hong Kong Film Award for Best Picture. The Bill Kong Chi Keung invested COLD WAR (HONG JIN) was a box office champion. The Chinese film FINDING MR. RIGHT made 500 million yuan in the Mainland. He joked that Lau Tak Wa swindled him into invest in FIRESTORM together. Lau Tak Ha humorously replied, "In order for him to pay my salary, I was willing to play the lead and be the executive producer."
Some said that Chinese film is at a changing of the guards, but they disagreed. This year several new comer directed film performed well at the box office, truly reflecting that the audience was growing younger and could accept more realistic subjects. Lau Tak Wa said, "The relationship between new directors and veteran directors is like a romance. Some people may because of a new girlfriend feel the new ones are always better than old ones, but you still need time for them to settle."
