Lawrence Ng once charmed many female viewers portraying Dr. Ching in the TVB drama Healing Hands. Yesterday he revealed through Weibo that he will be returning to TVB in February to film a medical drama. Many are speculating that he will be joining the cast of On Call 36 Hours (The Hippocratic Crush). Fans are wondering what 'sparks' will trigger between the characters of Ching Chi Mei and Yat Kin Tou, which was portrayed by Kenneth Ma.
'On Call' earned high ratings and elicited great response from the audience. TVB was quick to announce plans to film a sequel towards the end of the year with the original cast. However, faced with stiff competition from soon-to-be free TV channels and the departure of their talents, TVB has been actively seeking outside help to fortify their lineup and to give the audience a fresh feeling. Lawrence Ng has been one of the many talents they have recruited recently.
Lawrence once said that his chances of returning to TVB were slim, but he has finally been persuaded to return 'home'. He revealed that he met with two TVB execs two nights ago to discuss his current project. It appears that Virginia Lok was one of them. He also said the talks went smoothly and they were very sincere in inviting him to take part in a new medical drama. The original start date of November was pushed back to February in order to accommodate his schedule. He felt gracious towards them for their arrangement. Lawrence tells everyone not to ask him whether he'll be portraying Ching Chi Mei again, as he himself is not sure of the details at this stage.
