The
IFPI Hong Kong Top Sales Music Awards 2012 was held last night. Andy Lau won 6 awards depending on his Cantonese, Mandarin and concert DVD albums. He was the big winner of the night. As for the female singers, GEM, Joey Yung and Twins each got 4 awards. GEM even defeated Joey becoming the 2012 titleholder of "Top Selling Local Female Singer of the Year". She also won "Top Selling Mandarin Album of the Year" based on her
Xposed.
GEM was only willing to accept interviews after the show ended and she asked her colleague to help her record the interview. She explained she and the staff have to communicate an issue. Also, she didn't know she had to do interviews. GEM was surprised to have won the Top Selling Female Singer award, she said: "This is a heavy weighted award, thus I was very nervous on stage. I was really afraid I would forget to thank my fans because they are very important! I had a lot of work in January, which was an additional amount of stress. Tonight, I feel very encouraged and certain. This helps me endure through the next 45 days before my concert."
Although Joey lost the Female Singer award, she expressed: "Last year I just had one Mandarin album, I should be happy to even be on the nominations!" She revealed this year she will be releasing one full length album and one other EP. Joey smiled and said she can see many are wishing she release a Cantonese album and she believes the time is right. The Egypt hot-air balloon accident killed several HK tourists, Joey sends her condolence to the victims' family members. Joey expressed she has never been to Egypt before and she's afraid of robberies, so she doesn't dare to go and she is even more fearful of hot air balloons. When speaking of Shawn Yue and Kary Ng's rumors, Joey believes the most important is the happiness of the couple. "The previous generation liked to keep relationships a secret, but nowadays I wish to be in a relationship and someone wanting me, and get blessings from everyone. It isn't their first time being in a relationship and this isn't the first celebrity couple."
Twins won the "Top Selling Local Group of the Year", but this year Ah Sa and Ah Gil will only be releasing solo albums. Ah Sa hopes she can have a Mandarin song with Ah Gil and Joey in the future. When asked if Ah Gil's Korean boyfriend understands her songs? She expressed: "Of course not! You kidding! Perhaps he only knows how to sing our children song
Happy Birthday." Yesterday Shawn came back to HK, Ah Sa believes whether he announces his relationship or not, the most important is for him to feel comfortable and enjoys his life. Twins expressed they are currently pleased with their lives!
Leo Ku revealed he'll be participating in a new film in June. He plays a cop in the new film and will have many action scenes, so he is currently working out those muscles. "The director wants me to have some muscles, I never had that experience before and will try my best to achieve this goal." Mag revealed she increased her weight to 90 pounds, but her vocals still have not recovered fully. She still feels pain during rehearsals and have been eating loquat to help relieve it.
