It's not all glitz and glamour in the life of a TVB actor, as it revealed through the life of small-time actor Eric Lee.
Jayne Stars reported that the struggling actor, who portrays villains or small roles in various TVB series for 18 years, had to work additional part-time jobs as a receptionist at a Thai massage parlour to make his living.
Eric, who makes HKD 10,000 a month with TVB – that is if he has any acting jobs at all, was revealed to have been relying heavily on his girlfriend of three years, Bobo, to support him.
Reporters who went undercover to the Thai massage parlour witnessed firsthand how Eric caters to patrons, from answering phones, scheduling appointments, selling massage packages to serving tea. When asked if he was an actor from recent TVB series, "The Day Of Days", he bashfully answered, "I'm just helping out."
Meanwhile, a customer of the massage parlour revealed that the actor has been working at the place for several months and would come more often when there are no acting jobs.
The source claimed, "I heard that this parlour was opened by his ex-girlfriend and she wanted to help him out since his salary at TVB is so low. He makes HKD 50 an hour here, which is higher than the required minimum wage, so he can pull in some decent income if he works nine hours a day."
