62 year-old wealthy businesman Lau Ding Sing (劉定成) has been accused of sexual harassment and using nude photos to threaten male artists. As he made high-profile judgements on the men within the industry, they are all in danger. Him Law was on the list of men that Lau commented on. Lau said Him "wasn't big enough" and that they have a god father-son relationship. However, Him publicly denied twice that he knew Lau and then issued a statement to clear his name following the denial. In reality, Him has known Lau since 2007 and as a result, Him was called a liar.
Since the rumor broke out that Lau Ding Sing has a collection of nude photos of the male artists, Him was one of the notable names on the list. On May 16th, Him accepted an interview at TVB City and stressed he did not know Lau at all and has never attended Lau's dinner parties. He expressed over the years, he has relied on his own hard work to earn money and has never taken nude photos. On May 17th, Him issued a written statement through his management company, Filmko. In the 5-bulleted point statement, the company stressed to the media once again that Him did not participate in a fully nude photo shoot or any unethnical activities. The third bullet point stated, "Him Law has never gone to the police station or court to provide assistance to any legal case investigation." The fourth bullet point stated, "Him Law does not know any wealthy business name by the surname of Lau."
However, yesterday according to the news from the court, Him Law met Lau Ding Sing through his friend (Shum Ho Ming) in 2007. The police later discovered a photo of Him and Lau as well. Two years ago, Him was invited to the police station to provide assistance on the investigation. Clearly, the previous statement issued by Him's company, stressing that he did not know Lau or been to the police station was a lie.
Yesterday Him was shooting for new series A Chip off the Old Block II within TVB City. He took the initative to explain the lies he made to the public in the last few days. He said the police requested that he kept the case confidential. Him expressed there has been a lot of news lately regarding to that case, and after meeting with his company and the police, both parties believed he should use words to protect himself.
He said: "The most important point is I have never taken any of the supposed fully nude or partically nude photos for Lau. The only partially nude photos I've taken are the ones I let you (the media) take at public events. I haven't taken the kind that Lau apparently claimed. Also, we see each other for long periods, so there may be photos we have taken together, but those photos are absolutely appropriate and have clothes on."
As to Lau's comment on the finished product (nude photo collection), that Him's body was "not big enough"? Him said he does not know if Lau has commented on him or not, but he remembers each time they met, he was sober, he was not drunk or asleep. When asked what kinds of pictures does Lau have in his possession? Him said: "Photos with T-shirts and jeans. I definitely have a shirt and jeans on in the photos. I hope there will be an opportunity to see these photos, to prove that I have never taken nude photos before. As to taking legal action, I will let my company handle that."
