Hong Kong model, Cecilia "Cissy" Wang recently dismissed rumours of her husband Donnie Yen's supposed high remuneration that led to the abrupt pre-production halt for the third instalment of the "Ip Man" franchise and instead said that he is a workaholic, Oriental Daily reports.
Speaking to the media recently for the skincare brand SK-II, Cissy debunked the payment rumours, saying, "If his remuneration is that high, why would I even have to work?"
She also shared that it was her who asked Donnie to not make too many international films, so that the actor could make time for his family.
She expressed, "Donnie is too busy. Even now, he is preparing for [production company] Super Hero's new project in November, as well as several other Hollywood films. I've even asked him to not make these foreign films. I am already very satisfied with what we have. I don't want him to work so hard."
However, Cissy revealed that the workaholic Donnie loves movies too much and that he already has a good script and character that he wants to try.
Asked if the international films were the reason that he could not make "Ip Man 3", Cissy dismissed it and said, "He tried decreasing his work for six months for the movie production, but the time is already up."
"It's not a salary issue. Some of the Hollywood projects offered him more, but he still turns it down if it means that he has to play a villain. Donnie just wants to work with [Ip Man's original director] Wilson Yip again," she added.
