The Hong Kong actress' house was broken into on Monday night On Monday night, veteran actress Liza Wang was shocked to discover that the safe deposit box in her house was stolen, along with valuables reportedly worth over HK$3 million (approximately S$500,000).
According to Liza, the thief broke into her bungalow through the window when her domestic maid brought her pet dog out for a stroll at around 9pm. Although they returned to the house within 20 minutes, the actress' jewellery, cash, passport and wedding ring had already gone missing.
Sources claimed that the thief seemed to be very familiar with the surroundings of Liza's residence, as all CCTVs in the house were adjusted so that the crime could not be captured on camera.
While speaking to the media, the 65-year-old said that there was a significant sum of foreign currency (Canadian Dollar and Chinese Yuan) in her safe due to an upcoming trip. However, the actress was most upset about the loss of her wedding ring, which her husband Law Kar-ying has promised to compensate her with a new one.
Liza also assured her friends of her well-being after the incident in a microblog post. She wrote: "Fortunately no one was at home during the theft. No one was hurt, so don't worry, my friends."
As this is the third time Liza has met with theft, Liza was noticeably unhappy with the police's efficiency. "Ah Sir, I don't know if I should report the case. Because you have never ever cracked one," she said, directing her comment at the authorities.
"Those are my hard-earned money meant for my retirement. [The thief is] so immoral. I hope the police will protect the lives and assets of the citizens," added Liza.
