So what were one of the Heavenly Kings of Cantopop Andy Lau and Hong Kong Cantopop singer-actress Sammi Cheng's most embarrassing experiences?
At a press conference for "Blind Detective", their latest film together, Andy revealed that he was recognised by a male fan in a public toilet as he did his business!
"I was at a male public toilet once, and while I was doing my business the guy next to my urinal recognised me, and started a conversation, but I just said to him now is not the right time," said the 51-year-old actor.
For 40-year-old Sammi, her most embarrassing moment was also in a public toilet.
"Once I was also at a public toilet and it just so happened that the stall had a faulty lock on the door, but since there was no one around, I just went ahead and used the toilet. As I was doing my business, someone suddenly tried to open the door! I just shouted to the person "there's someone in here!" as the door opened, but I'm not sure what the person saw! Luckily I wasn't wearing any makeup, so that person might not have recognised me!"
Directed by Johnnie To, "Blind Detective" tells the story of a literally blind former detective who makes his living by solving cold cases for police rewards. He soon meets a dim-witted but exceptionally strong and determined police inspector, who enlists him to solve her own cold case.
When asked if the two of them will continue working together in another film after "Blind Detective", Andy replied, "After so many years of not working together, not many directors are brave enough to ask us to work together in a film. I am also not sure why this is so. But both of us are looking forward to work with other directors."
He added that he himself would like to direct a film, perhaps in 20 years' time.
